Nobel International Business School (NiBS) in Ghana Holds Maiden Doctoral Graduation Ceremony
The Maiden NiBS Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) graduation ceremony, which was held on 21st April, 2018 at the Tang Palace Hotel, Accra witnessed a very large crowd from the academic community, as well as friends of the school and well-wishers. A total of 11 Executives from diverse backgrounds, from Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Zimbabwe and Canada graduated with coveted DBA degrees awarded by the Swiss Business School in partnership with NiBS. In attendance were high ranking state officials including H E Former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor, who served as the guest of honor for the occasion. Also present was the President and Executive Dean of NiBS, Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, the Academic Dean of the Swiss Business School, Dr. Bert Wolfs, as well as Professor Kwame Boasiako Omane-Antwi, the Vice Rector of the Pentecost University College, Ghana.
The proceedings commenced with the procession of the guest of honor, faculty members and invited guests, which saw the convocation standing up to welcome them. Speaking at the ceremony, the guest of honor Former President John Agyekum Kufuor noted that the global tertiary educational system is currently in an era where university faculty are required to be both academically prepared and professionally abreast of ongoing developments in their respective fields of teaching endeavor. Consequently, President Kufuor called on Ghanaian universities to engage academically qualified executives in the classroom to train well rounded graduates for today’s corporate world. In this regard, NiBS with its forward-looking learning model, has been able to produce seasoned executive doctoral graduates who can apply the knowledge acquired to not only solve real world problems in their organizations, but also provide real world business management training for the next generation of tertiary students. In his message to the graduands, Prof. Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, President and Executive Dean at NiBS encouraged them to continually exhibit the leadership knowledge and skills that are espoused in the program’s brand promise: Discover. He further congratulated them on reaching the pinnacle of their academic career, and entreated them to take charge, successfully launch and manage the NiBS Executive Doctors Academy (NEDA): A community of NiBS alumni who hold doctorate degrees and serve as a think tank on management and business issues. Additionally, the DBA program Director at NiBS, Dr. Livingstone Caesar charged the graduands to use their knowledge to proffer workable solutions to the many problems our businesses and general communities are battling on a daily basis.
Among the graduates were Dr. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed, the Honorable Minister of State for Business Development and Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey, the Head of Financial Institute/ International Organization RAM AWA Ecobank who received the award for the Most Practical Thesis. The Chief Executive Officer of Precise Financial Systems, Nigeria, Dr. Akinyele Osuolale Okeremi was also among the graduates. He received the award for the Most Diligent and Disciplined Student; while the Executive Director of DevApps Limited, Dr. Mercy Omari-Tenkorang was adjudged the Valedictorian of the class and received the Most Outstanding Student award. On behalf of her colleagues, she thanked the faculty and staff of NiBS for helping to develop a new breed of executives who have gained the mastery to help solve the myriad of challenges that plague the African continent.
