NiBS University Launches Alumni “Club 100” and Research Fund, Raises Early Pledges from Graduates

NiBS University used its 2026 graduation ceremony to launch two new fundraising initiatives, the NiBS Capital Fund and an alumni giving initiative called Club 100, aimed at expanding research infrastructure, laboratories, libraries and scholarships.

Announcing the initiative, the university’s Deputy Chancellor, Dr. Felix Bana Abaka-Saki, described Club 100 as built on three pillars: capital projects (labs, libraries and innovation hubs), research grants and scholarships, and community engagement. Giving tiers ranged from a “Pillar Circle” (10,000 Ghana cedis) up to a “Founders Circle” (100,000 Ghana cedis, staggered over three years).

The university’s Chancellor, who also serves as President of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), and the Chairman of the Board of Directors, announced a $100,000 donation from the bank and a personal pledge of $20,000 toward the fund. Several graduates and guests pledged contributions from the floor during the ceremony, including a Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, who committed $2,000, and a graduate based in Liberia who pledged $1,000, among other individual pledges.

The ceremony also featured a short cultural performance, the conferment of degrees across five programs, and remarks from student representatives, faculty and university leadership, before Vice Chancellor Dr. George Nana Agyekum Donkor formally dissolved the 2026 congregation.
