Executive Doctors in Residence (EDR) Program
An Opportunity to Teach and Impact the Next Generation
One critical difference of NiBS University education is to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The EDR program encourages meaningful engagement in NiBS University's life by senior executives, emerging business leaders, and innovators whose perspectives can shapе and add value to students and faculty. EDRs are carefully selected executives with doctorate degrees at the forefront of leadership, business, and entrepreneurship. EDRs would share their experiences and insights with our students, faculty, and the NiBS leadership. This exclusive academic and practice role is for a few carefully selected executives to enhance their reputation and personal profile through their interest in developing a new generation of leaders. The program furthers our goal of helping master's and undergraduate students qualify for the real world.
Functions of EDRs
EDRs perform the following roles:
- Devote at least 10 hours per year to coaching and mentoring assigned students.
- One-on-one student career advising.
- Guest lecturing and participation in NiBS seminars and
conferences. - Coaching and evaluating student entrepreneurial projects.
- Teaching courses and expert presentations in professional and academic programs.
- Engage with students and contribute to their personal and professional development.

Qualifications
EDRS can be working, semi-retired, or retired executives or successful business owners who are recognized as significant leaders within their industries and meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Doctorate in business, management, and related fields - priority is given to Alumni of NiBS.
- Minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility and acknowledged success in a specific industry or a demonstrated history of substantive entrepreneurial endeavors, including founding. investing, or funding start-up ventures and operational and strategic leadership resulting in successful liquidity exits.
- Prior experience with business schools or universities, including teaching, writing, consulting, guest speaking, and research, added advantage.
- Must be available for 10 hours during the academic year to interact with students and faculty.
Selection Process
The President appoints EDRs upon:
- Self-nomination.
- Nomination by Heads of Departments, Alumni, and Faculty.
- The President makes the final appointment to receive approval of the Governing Board.
Induction upon selection:
- EDR candidates are assigned to a Program Director.
- EDRs are introduced to select student groups, faculty, staff, and the public through the website and newspaper adverts.
NiBS Support for EDRS
- NiBS email address, phone number, and business cards.
- Routine office supplies, where required.
- Allowance for modest expenses for University events as appropriate.
- No salary is offered.
