NiBS University Welcomes New Leadership: Highlights from the Investiture Ceremony

On March 22, 2025, NiBS University proudly held the Investiture Ceremony for its newly appointed Chancellor and Deputy Chancellor. This significant event brought together students, alumni, and distinguished guests to celebrate a new chapter in the university’s leadership.

The ceremony was graced by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, who represented the President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. His participation underscored the importance of the occasion and the university’s role in the broader educational landscape of Ghana.

The highlight of the event was the official swearing-in of:

  • Dr. George Agyekum Donkor as the Chancellor
  • Dr. Nana Abaka Sackey as the Deputy Chancellor

The event commenced with guests arriving and taking their seats. The proceedings began with an opening prayer led by the Rt. Rev. Thomas Amponsah Donkor, Esq., setting a reflective tone for the ceremony.

Dr. Senanu Klutse delivered the welcome address and warmly welcomed all attendees. This was followed by an address from Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima, the founder and President of NiBS University, who emphasized the university’s mission and vision.

The keynote address was delivered by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who inspired the audience with his insights on education and leadership. Dr. Abdul Hamid Kwarteng introduced the new Chancellor and Deputy Chancellor, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor and Dr. Nana Abaka Sackey, respectively.

Prof. Emmanuel Selasie Asamoah Esq. administered the Oath of Office before the formal investiture ceremony, which he also led. Dr. Donkor accompanied by Dr. Sackey delivered an acceptance speech, expressing their gratitude and commitment to the university’s future.

The ceremony also featured reflections from esteemed alumni, including Dr. Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Vice Chairman of the Public Services Commission; Dr. Gillian Hammah, Head of Marketing & Strategy at Aya Data; Dr. Richard Denteh, a retired banker; Dr. Mercy Gardner Tenkorang, CEO of Devapps Ltd; and Dr. David Amoo-Osae, CEO of The House Group. They shared their experiences and testimonies on the impact of NiBS University.

To conclude the event, Dr. Sylvester Nyamekye Esq. offered closing remarks, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Olagunju M. O. Ashimolowo, the Vice-President in charge of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), ensuring that all contributors to the success of the ceremony were acknowledged.
