Idea Development Workshop for Early-Career Researchers in Africa and other Low and Middle-Income Countries

NiBS University has entered into a collaborative academic initiative with the Academy of Management (AOM) to deliver an Idea Development Workshop for Early-Career Researchers in Africa and other Low and Middle-Income Countries.

The initiative reflects NiBS University’s strategic focus on strengthening doctoral education and expanding global academic engagement in support of research development on the continent.

This 120-minute interactive session, co-organized by AOM TIM Division and NiBS University aims to enhance the visibility and engagement of Low and Middle-income country researchers within the AOM community, boost outreach efforts, and strengthen the research skills and networks of early-career scholars based in Low and Middle-income countries.

Workshop Overview

  • Online academic workshop designed to support early-career researchers through mentored, developmental engagement
  • Opening plenary session introducing participants and mentors
  • Advance matching of participants to mentors in small breakout groups (one mentor with one to three participants)
  • Project-specific feedback provided by mentors, informed by abstracts shared ahead of the workshop
  • Verbal discussion of research ideas in breakout sessions; no formal presentations required
  • Brief participant self-introductions in plenary, outlining background and research interests
  • Plenary discussion and Q&A focused on academic careers and research development
  • Dedicated session on academic publishing, including reviewer and editor expectations at high-impact journals
  • Issuance of a certificate of participation at the conclusion of the workshop

Academic Mentors
