Osafohene Dr. Afua Asabea Asare

Osafohene Dr. Afua Asabea Asare is a Strategy Enthusiast with extensive expertise in Integrated Communications and Organisational Development, bringing close to 36 years of management experience across public and private sectors. She served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) from 2018 until her retirement from public service in February 2025, having been appointed by H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

During her tenure, she spearheaded transformative initiatives including winning the bid to host the World Trade Promotion Organization’s Annual Conference in Ghana (the first time south of the Sahara) and completing the National Export Development Strategy (NEDS)—a 10-year roadmap targeting USD 25.3 billion in non-traditional export earnings by 2029. She championed youth development through the Youth in Export Competition and Project, upgraded Art & Craft Villages into exhibition-standard facilities, and launched the Women Icons Regional Exhibitions to promote women-owned businesses.

Dr. Asare sits on several prestigious boards including the International Trade Centre Advisory Board (Geneva), IE University Advisory Board (Madrid), and serves as Board Chairman of Tekura Furniture, Ghana. She has received numerous awards including the 2019 Women in Transformational Leadership Award, induction into the West African Nobles Hall of Fame, and the 2022 African Female Leadership Impact Award.

She holds an MA in Positive Leadership and Strategy from IE University Madrid, an LLB from KNUST, an MSc in Organisational Development from University of Cape Coast, an MBA in International Business from Ecole Superieur de Gestion Paris, and a Doctorate in Business Management from Swiss Business School and NiBS Ghana. An adjunct lecturer, consultant, and columnist, she is passionate about leadership development, entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and the arts.
