Dr. Samuel Adomako

Strategy and Innovation

Dr Adomako is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Innovation at Birmingham Business School. He has a proven record of scholarship, academic inquiry and research. He teaches and does research at the intersection of innovation strategy, strategic management, and international entrepreneurship. The geographical contexts for his research span developing/emerging economies such as Africa, Asia and the Middle East. He frequently consults for many organizations including multinationals and SMEs in Africa. He currently serves a consultant to many business incubators in Africa and the Middle East.

Dr Adomako has undertaken collaborative research projects with researchers from the University of Warwick, San Diego State University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, University of Kent, University of Ghana, University of Bradford, De Montfort University, Saint Louis University, and University of Portsmouth and has been invited to deliver presentations in universities in the UK, Ghana, USA, France, Australia, UAE, and South Africa.

His research work has been published or forthcoming in leading scholarly journals such as British Journal of Management, International Business Review, International Small Business Journal, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Institutional Economics, Journal of International Management, R&D Management Journal, International Review of Financial Analysis, Business Strategy and the Environment.
His research has won multiple awards, including Best Empirical Paper Award (SME growth/performance track) at the 37th Institute Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) Annual Conference, held in Manchester, 2014 and a winner of Emerald Literati Highly Commended Paper Award for a co-authorship in Managerial Finance Journal (2015).

He received his PhD in Management for his thesis on ”small business growth in Ghana” from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA Accredited) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom.
