Master of Service Design, Management, & Leadership (SDML)
Program Overview
Our Master of Service Design, Management, and Leadership program is a unique offering that integrates service management, leadership, and design in Ghana’s rapidly evolving, data-driven service industry. This handbook, in line with the NiBS Student Handbook policy, is a valuable resource that provides essential information about this distinctive program. Few, if any, other programs combine these three crucial aspects of services into one comprehensive curriculum. Working from this integrated perspective, this program helps students to develop an engaged and critical understanding of service management, leadership, and service design that will underpin their capacity and career development.
Another unique feature of this program is that students build core data skills and an advanced understanding of service implications. This data-driven element of services, usually missing in similar programs, allows students to explore the core characteristics of services and understand how they can be designed, complementary, managed, and delivered to add value to their consumers and users.
One of the most exciting features of our program is the opportunity for students to run a virtual company in a simulated business environment. This hands-on experience allows students to manage all critical aspects of the business, from finance to marketing, strategy to operations. By practising service strategy, design, and leadership activities, students can make decisions and see their immediate impact, simulating real-world scenarios. This unique learning method provides a more meaningful and deeper understanding of business strategies than traditional static case studies.
Our program is designed to equip executives with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in leadership and management positions in service companies and organisations across the private and public sectors. It fosters a deep understanding of service leadership, management, and design, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the service industry.
