Below is a summary of the key academic roles I have performed and my key capabilities.

  1. Doctoral Supervision Role

The role guides candidates to clarify and in a researchable manner the issue(s) at the core of their proposed study. It also assists students to identify the most relevant theories for formulating a theoretical model where needed, to develop hypothesis, identify appropriate methodology for data collection analysis and interpretation of the results.  My multi-disciplinary background in both accounting and marketing gives me a holistic understanding of business which students find invaluable in assisting them to identify the business implications of the findings of their studies.

  1. Teaching Roles

My role as a Senior Lecturer reflects my excellent ability to assist students to make sense of complex issues and enable them to do well in high-risk courses. I have achieved this by designing engaging tutorials that offer team support and one-on-one assistance to studentswho require assistance in applying accounting and marketing concepts for solving complex problems. I also create an informal and relaxed atmosphere in my classes that encouraged students to feel liberated to ask questions without feeling intimidated by the tutor or other students.

  1. Course Coordination Roles

A key part of my role as a Lead Lecturer and Course Coordinator was to ensure consistency in the content and quality of teaching that was delivered by different tutors across multiple tutorial groups and across multiple campuses of CQ University. The role also ensured that students were assessed consistently and fairly across tutorial groups. This required liaising with all tutors, effective upfront communication of expectations and internal moderation of marked assignments as well as monitoring of tutor’s in-class performance, and following up on any student complaints.

  1. Academic Excellence Roles

As a member of the Business Programs committee that had responsibility for delivering excellent teaching and learning outcomes, I participated in a detailed analysis of the results for business courses and offered suggestions on how to improve results in subsequent semesters. This snapshot as well as trend analysis of results provided insights in assisting the faculty in identifying the underlying causes of poor student performance in high risk courses. It also provided the basis for developing improvements in both teaching and assessments and aimed to deliver superior learning outcomes.
