Lawrence Mintah Gyakye

Lawrence is a research fellow and academic assistant to the registry at NiBS and pursuing his Ph.D. in Business Administration (Management). His Ph.D. thesis is ‘’Team member change and task performance of New Product Development (NPD) teams in service organizations of Ghana: the moderating role of the strategic core role and mediating role of coordination flux’’. Prior to that, he graduated with B.A. (Hons.) Economics with Mathematics from the University of Cape Coast. Due to his zealousness to achieve targets, while undertaking his national service at the Central Regional Development Commission (CEDECOM), he was sponsored by the organization to study for a Certificate in Research Methodology at the University of Cape Coast. He went on to work and with a dint of hard work rose through the ranks to become a Branch Manager of Sinapi Aba Savings & Loans Co. Ltd. in 2014.  In 2009, he was voted as the 2nd Best Financial Services Officer. In the quest to broaden his horizon on the job, he participated in numerous pieces of training, workshops, seminars, and conferences in areas not limited to credit & portfolio management, securities & stock markets, credit & risk management, SME Lending, Financial Crime, Banking Fraud, and Money Laundering. In 2012, he earned a Certificate in Credit Risk Management from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Frankfurt-Germany. In 2014, he won the Chinese Government Scholarship and subsequently studied for his M. Phil in Applied Economics (Finance) at the School of Economics & Management, Harbin Engineering University (HEU), Heilongjiang Province, China, which he passed with merit. During the course of his studies in China, he sat for and passed the Chinese Proficiency Exams (HSK 6). His research interests are in Teams & Change Management, Financial Markets & Institutions, Corporate Finance, Financial Derivatives, and Credit & Risk Management. Lawrence is an Associate Member of the Association of Certified Chartered Economists (ACCE®).
