In a recent Joy Business Masterclass, Ebo Richardson, a NiBS adjunct faculty member and Innovare Limited Board Member, shed light on a critical perspective on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in today’s environment. In contrast to the promise for AI to change problem-solving, Richardson stressed that many people are only “playing” with this powerful technology rather than fully utilizing its powers.

Richardson questioned the customary employment of AI, notably in academic settings where tools like ChatGPT are frequently used for essay writing. Instead, he advised the audience to refocus AI on addressing actual concerns, particularly in agriculture.

Richardson argued for a paradigm shift in thinking instead of confining AI to routine jobs. He urged organisations and people to see AI as a tool that can solve problems in the real world, especially those in fields that are essential to the sustainability and well-being of the entire planet.
